How to Help Mrs. Martin and her Family

At our meeting on Monday night, we were told that Dana Martin (Sunnyside's 2nd grade intervention teacher) suffered a brain aneurysm this past weekend and is the ICU.  As a member of the Sunnyside family, we immediately wanted to know what we could do, especially because Dana and her husband have two young boys.

Friends and family have set up a GoFundMe page to help the family with expenses during this time (medical bills, time away from work for her and her husband, household expenses, etc.)

If you are interested in helping, please click here.  We know it's a busy and expensive time of year.   We wanted to share this information because people have asked how they can help Dana and her family.

Happy Holidays!

PTA Meeting Monday

Our next PTA meeting is Monday (October 12th) at 6pm in the Sunnyside library/IMC.

Teachers from 5th grade will be our guest speakers this month.  Join us as we learn more about 5th grade.  They'll update us on their (recent) annual weeklong trip to Laurentian, and give us a glimpse into a day in the life of a 5th grader at Sunnyside.

We hope to see you there.

Please note: Unfortunately at this time we do not have babysitters available.  We've been working hard but have not found a group that can help.  We'll update if that changes.

Want to find out more about the PTA
without attending meetings
?

We have an email group that you can subscribe to that makes that possible.  Each month, this group receives emails containing things like meeting minutes, calls for volunteers, and previews of flyers that will go home.

You won't receive daily or even weekly emails.  No one has time for that.  Most months, you will only receive 1-2 emails per month.  To be added, simply send an email to sunnyside621pta@gmail.com with subject line, "Email Blast".

Fundraising Opportunity for School-wide
Art Project

EVERY STUDENT can participate.

Would you like to help bring an artist to Sunnyside who will work with EVERY student to paint a permanent school mural?

Sunnyside is looking to raise the remaining money (after PTA support) to have an Artist in Residence the last week in January.

Shane Anderson, a Minneapolis based artist will come to our school and spend a full week working with EVERY student during their art specialist time to create a multi-paneled mural that will be permanently displayed at Sunnyside.

We can’t make this happen without your help, and time is running short.  We need to raise these funds by January 17th.  It’s a very unique opportunity for every student to learn graphics and painting techniques from a successful local professional.  Any amount will help.
